Sea Otter Cam

A lot of different activities go on in our sea otter exhibit. We feed our otters four times a day but you might not recognize the food at first. We often put the food into toys, like food tubes, that stimulate the otters' natural behavior of pounding and working to get food out of shells. Our aquarists also teach the otters behaviors, like walking onto a scale or into a kennel, or holding a target with their paws to focus their attention and keep still.

A Milestone Birth

We’re thrilled to announce a stranded sea otter reared as a pup by one of our exhibit sea otters two years ago, then released to the wild, has given birth to a pup of her own—the first for a surrogate-reared animal in the history of the Aquarium’s groundbreaking Sea Otter Research and Conservation (SORAC) program.

Our live web cams are made possible through the generosity of our members and donors. If you would like to lend your support, you can donate online. The cam will time out after 30 minutes—refresh/reload your browser window to restart the stream.

Products like pesticides and improperly disposed of motor oil eventually flow to the sea, and can make otters sick.

Sea Otter Activities
